An effective tool that can be used personally, professionally and organizationally for change and development......

is the Life Balance Wheel.

Hi everyone!  Welcome back!

I've had e-mails from many of you asking about the various ways that I use the Life Balance Wheel as a tool.  I have used it when coaching/discussing Performance Management, Sales and Marketing, Organizational Strategy, Retirement Planning, Family Dreams, etc. etc.  It's powerful and effective for developing goals and strategies in these areas.   I'll elaborate on the various uses in future issues (or you can e-mail me: pat@patmussieux.com if you want more information right now!).  For this issue, however, we go back to basics and focus on you as an individual ........because 'all meaningful and lasting change starts first on the inside.......it starts with you!"

For our new readers, let's review the first two steps as outlined in the last issue:

Step One - google Life Balance Wheel, complete the steps for getting a visual sense of what  your life is looking like today, and print a copy for your records.  Date it. (That becomes your check on 'current reality'.) I've included a picture of one of my Balance Wheels to give you an idea of what the finished product looks like.  I like to use colors!

Step Two - Complete the 'family timeline'.  (you can access past issues of my e-newsletter by going to my website: www.patmussieux.com)

Step Three - After getting past the shock and awe that you experienced in the above 2 steps, take another good look at your Life Balance Wheel.  You will have identified different aspects of your life (Family, Health, Finances, Work, Retirement, etc.) that are important to you.

Now it's important to remember to keep things simple throughout this process.  We are going to take baby steps!

Choose one spoke on the Balance Wheel that, when you look at it and think about it, causes you to say "hmmmmmm, that could use some attention/change/growth".  That will become the focus point for the remaining steps.  For the purpose of this newsletter, I will use the example of Physical Health. (Once you practice the steps, and make progress with your changes, you can always go back and work on some of the other spokes on the wheel.)

Step Four - On a piece of paper, with the words "Physical Health" at the top of the page, divide the page into 2 sections (by drawing a line down the middle).  On the left hand side, title that section "current reality".  On the right hand side, title that section 'my vision ".  On the left hand side, write down all the words that describe your current reality: sluggish, tired, overweight, high cholesterol, tight pants, unable to climb stairs without panting, etc.  On the right hand side, write down the words for your 'vision'; in other words, what would you look like/feel like if your physical health was ideal: high energy, ideal weight, perfect blood pressure, pants fit perfectly, zippers pull up easily, I climb stairs with breath to spare etc.   Put today's date on this piece of paper.

For the next week, I want you to look at this particular piece of paper each and every day.  I want you to think about your Physical Health (or whatever spoke you chose), and conjure up pictures in your head (and emotions in your heart!) as you read the words in the right hand column, over and over and over again!

And that's it for now.  Hang on!  I'll be back next week to walk you through 2 more steps!

The timing couldn't have been better; I am starting an Internet and Entertainment company and really need guidance on how to accomplish day-to-day goals, as well as long term goals. I needed focus. (I got focus!)  So far, I've been able to get through many hurdles. I've learned how to 'network with a purpose', to ask for help, and, especially, how to use my resources.
