It IS one of the secrets to living a long, happy and healthy life......
Hi everyone! Welcome back!
This past Saturday marked the 90th birthday of a very special woman in my life.......Aunt Simone! While the surprise party was in Edmonton (Canada), I was definitely with her in spirit. Aunt Simone has had a huge impact on my life. This woman is such an inspiration......she's lively, she's engaging, she's smart, she's witty, she's beautiful and she surrounds herself with really interesting and positive people! I want to be just like her!!!!
And that is one of the secrets to a long, happy and healthy life.......surround yourself with positive, happy, forwarding thinking and loving people! Here's a fact of life: some people just are NOT good for you! Get away from them. Run. Let them form their own club. You only have one life to live so take a good look around and see who is having an influence on you. Take action to surround yourself with people who love, support and nurture you.........like my incredible Aunt Simone! She's always been one of my biggest fans and I love her for that.
Now, on to business! Time for 2 more steps as you get a grip on your life, get more balance and begin living 'with intent'.
For our new readers, I welcome you. We are almost at 1,000 subscribers already and I thank those of you who are sharing this newsletter with friends and colleagues. I invite the new readers to visit my website (www.patmussieux.com) for previous issues of this newsletter, and for the first 4 steps in this process.
Step Five - Now that you have spent a week thinking about what your life could look like, and feel like, in one particular area, it's time to take action. For each of the words you chose for your new 'vision', it's time to create some goals. Grab a piece of paper, or 3 blank index cards, and write down 3 goals related to the spoke on the Balance Wheel that you chose. I am using Physical Health as an example. The vision words included: high energy, climbing stairs easily, ideal weight, etc. The goals I am committed to are: 1) go to bed early 3x this week; 2) choose stairs, instead of an elevator, at every opportunity; and 3) sit down on Saturday and plan my meals for the week.
Step Six - Set yourself up for success! Look ahead at your schedule and plan which nights you can easily go to bed early. Turn the TV off. Put fresh sheets on the bed. Open the window and get some fresh air! If you are only able to handle 10 stairs at a time, write that down as a benchmark and goal-set to improve each week. Planning your meals on Saturday, before grocery shopping, will ensure you have the proper choices in your kitchen as you plan lunches and dinners for the coming week. Clean out your environment (a good Dr. Phil tip!); if there's junk food in the house, chances are you will continue to eat it. Get rid of it!
Stay focused this week on what you DO want, and WHY you want it. It takes time, commitment and clarity to reach your goals. You can do it!
Happy Pat!
Next week: This is about the time when the "ya-but's" start to kick in......you know......all those excuses as to why you can't........ Next week, I'll show you how to get off your but's. It's my specialty!

"I heard Pat speak at a health care professional's education forum. She was everything and more than I expected. Her presentation was engaging. Pat presented practical skills for self reflection and behaviour adjustment, in a way that was both humorous and sobering. As an audience we responded to her disarming style of presenting the message. A message that was easy to understand and simple to apply."
